Stay With Yourself

Just a quick reminder while engaging with friends and family this holiday, to stay with yourself. When we go back to the places and people who influenced our habit’s development, and they get reflected back — a triggers-giving can ensue instead! Right?!

If you want to have the happiest of Thanksgivings and not a trigger-fest: Take a moment, pause, allow a new breath to arrive, and consider your response, consider if you need to respond.
Give yourself the Alexander Directions: “I allow my neck to be free, to allow my head to release forward and up, to allow my spine to lengthen and my back to widen, to allow my legs to release away from my torso, to allow my shoulders to widen.”

(No one has to know what you’re doing, they just see you looking more relaxed and listening.) And see what happens, see if you can enjoy the time together, and allow others to be themselves, and above all, keep your sense of humor!!

Whatever happens, you’ll see where you need to work in yourself next, be compassionate with yourself, and let me know if I can help you process those habits into surrendering — after the waters have been stirred, is a great time to address what’s been held.

Remember, ‘The issue is in the tissue.’

My warmest wishes for a restorative Thanksgiving holiday! ~Cate
